Our goal is to provide a high-quality developmental environment where motivated players can accumulate meaningful technical practice and continue building the skills required as the game becomes faster and more demanding.
More Touches. Better Technique. More Confident Players.
Great players aren’t developed through team practice alone. Team training is essential for learning how to play with a team — formations, tactics, positioning, attacking and defending principles, and preparing for competition. Our Technical Training Program complements regular team practices by creating additional opportunities for players to focus specifically on the development of the individual player and the ball. More meaningful touches. More repetition. Better technique. Better decisions. More confidence on the ball.
WHY ADD TECHNICAL TRAINING?
Most competitive teams train approximately twice per week, and coaches have a lot to accomplish during that time. Team practices must address tactical concepts, team shape, possession, defending, attacking, set pieces, game preparation, and many other areas of the game.
That means there isn’t always enough time for every player to receive the volume of individual technical repetition necessary to improve areas such as:
BALL MASTERY
Developing comfort, coordination, control, and confidence with the ball at both feet.
FIRST TOUCH & RECEIVING
Learning to receive the ball cleanly and prepare the next action efficiently.
1v1 ABILITY
Developing the confidence and technique to attack defenders, protect the ball, change direction, and escape pressure.
PASSING & STRIKING
Improving technique, accuracy, weight of pass, finishing, and striking with both feet.
SPEED OF PLAY
Learning to execute technical skills more quickly as pressure and game demands increase.
DECISION-MAKING
Putting players into situations where they must scan, recognize options, solve problems, and select the appropriate action.
SMALL-SIDED & GAME-REALISTIC PLAY
Creating environments where players receive frequent involvement with the ball and must apply their technical ability against real opposition.
Technical Training provides another developmental opportunity during the week where the individual player becomes the focus.
DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT — NOT REPLACE — TEAM TRAINING
Our Technical Training Program is additional development, not a replacement for your player’s regular team practices. For example:
Your Team trains Monday + Wednesday?
Add Technical Training on Tuesday.
Your Team trains Tuesday + Thursday?
Add Technical Training on Wednesday.
This creates another purposeful developmental opportunity during the week without simply adding another traditional team practice. The objective is to provide players who want more with an environment where they can continue improving their individual game.
WHO IS TECHNICAL TRAINING FOR?
Technical Training is open to all current City SC Utah South competitive players who want additional opportunities to develop beyond their regular team practices. No tryout is required.
Whether a player wants to improve a specific weakness, become more confident on the ball, prepare for a higher competitive level, or simply loves soccer and wants additional training, the program provides another opportunity to invest in their individual development.
There are no shortcuts in player development. But there is tremendous value in consistent, purposeful work over time.
More touches.
More repetitions.
More decisions.
More confidence.
More development.
Put in the work. Build your game.
